Rufus Woodward papers, 1817-1823.

The papers consist of holograph notebooks containing notes on mental and moral philosophy, political economy, and politics and theology, dated 1817-1818; a twenty-one-page holograph "journal" dating from 1818 Oct to 1822 Nov, which includes a brief sketch of Woodward's life before he entered Yale college in 1812 at age eighteen; a four-page holograph letter or draft of a letter to C. A. Goodrich regarding pronunciation and style of British preachers dated London, 1823 Oct 3; and a three-part "Travelling Common-place Book" containing comments, quotes, and other notes relating to Woodward's travels in Europe dated 1823.
